A peek into the life of me. A Stair stepper NURSE who went from CNA to RN, while being a, WLS patient, Wife, and Mother of 2.
Journey with me through the ups and downs of nursing school, the roller-coaster that is marriage and the drama of parenting teens. All while attempting to start a Nursing career, further my education, and lose weight.
Yes and no. If the material isn't any good, I defy the best student to learn. But if the student is unwilling, there is no chance that the student will ever learn. The material can be top notch but still nothing.
I suspect its a matter of it taking two to tango, and that some students study in different ways than material presented. And some of course, just want to do the beer and college lifestyle thing, sadly.
I honestly don't think that nursing school prepares you to be a nurse. I think nursing is gained OTJ like most other jobs. And this has been confirmed by a number of nurses that I know. Scary but true.
I totally agree! Especially if you have instructors that just read a powerpoint. I will strive to instruct with skills and practical knowledge. Thus case studies and critical thinking and more simulation labs should be included vs boring theory lectures about crap that isn't even on the NCLEX.
heh. If instructors just read off powerpoint I get bored real fast..and a bored Cait is a bratty Cait. Gimme info! not stuff I've already read ten minutes ago when you put it up while you were getting ready and talking to folks. *G*
I agree AND my school sucks. hahaha
