90 Day review
Yup been at the new job 90 days I gues so time for my review. Today I felt like a successful RN here for the first time though. Like I a pro I started an IV on one attempt, drew labs, pushed zofran, and hung fluids. Go ER Nurse me. Good thing I got it though because well, I had been counseled for my poor IV skills after 30 days, but hey in my defense it's not like I'd had a lot of practice in a while at that point, I'd been accessing ports, piccs and broviacs mostly. But yeah being able to just do it like it was an everyday occurrence felt good and it proves that yes i can do it so they should keep me. Other than that its been all MA type of work around here with a lot of Case Management. Sorry there isn't much exciting on here, but hey my BSN is going to start again soon. Yup I'm finally doing it, but seriously even that isn't too exciting.

Things People say...
"I was watching the news on TV and I think I have all those symptoms for Whopping cough, I was around a baby so he gave it to me.."
Seriously? Maybe you should have listened to the news a little better. BTW you have the flu!

New Job
Urgent Care and Clinic nursing is exactly what I thought it would be and I LOVE it. This is a nice change of pace. I gave my current job notice, but they want me to stay PRN, which means 3 shifts a month. Of course I told them also that in order to stay PRN it will only be at my friend's house, the mom of the little girl I took care of for so long. They agreed, mainly because I said I would use them for Nursing for any kiddos I got if they needed nurses.

Brush off the Nursing Dx's Ya'll
DX: Anticipatory Grieving r/t loss of child, AEB heart palpitations at thought of saying good-bye, overwhelming sense of dread, fear of unknown, changes in VS including increase in BP and HR, and increase in depressive moods; lack of enjoyment in things use to enjoy.
Just need it to be 11/22/13 and for the decision to be made. It's been since September that we have been going through all of this back and forth. It's been since May since I saw her picture and fell in love with this little girl. She has my heart all of it... not to mention Hubby's. This SUCKS!

Primary Pediatric Registered Nurse
My official title at "new job". I will be the RN assigned to the brand new Pediatric side of the Urgent Care. We are transitioning from a PCP to PCP/Urgent Care. I will also help on the adult side of course when we don't have any kiddos, but I get to help create and implement new policies and procedures with regard to the Pedi side. So excited for the opportunities.
I'll be taking a few extra classes to brush up on some critical care skills, like EKG and PALS.
